Republicans are lying. Again. But now it’s worse than ever.

Republicans are lying. Again. But now it’s worse than ever.

Here, Donald Trump supporters will argue that Iran has spread disinformation to harm Trump. And yes, it’s true. But here’s the difference. Trump and his people turn a blind eye to Russian disinformation and deny knowing anything about it. But when Iranian hackers emailed some Biden and then Harris campaign officials, those officials a) did not respond and b) began cooperating with law enforcement. And in any case, Iranian interference is a molehill compared to the vast mountain range of Russian interference.

Finally, let’s see what Elon Musk is up to. He’s paying people in battleground states $100 to sign a petition supporting free speech and gun rights, and over the weekend he announced that every day until the election, some lucky petition signer will win $1 million. Since he doesn’t pay people to vote, it doesn’t seem illegal. But this is a gross and anti-civilian deception of the system. And who knows what voter data his PAC collects and how that data might be used in the future?

But that’s not all. Musk also reportedly poured $100 million into a right-wing dark money PAC that created an initiative called Progress 2028, which was supposed to be the Harris campaign’s answer to Project 2025. “Progress 2028” consists of bogus positions that the Harris campaign did not take, such as “Empowering Undocumented Immigrants, Building Our Future” and “Expanding Medicaid to Undocumented Immigrants.”
