Apple discusses its approach to capital expenditures

Capex, or capital expenditure, has become a hot term in the tech world lately as large companies rush to spend money on artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Investors are a little concerned about these spending trends at many companies, but Apple isn’t spending as much as its Big Tech rivals. CFO Luca Maestri spoke about the company’s “hybrid” approach during the earnings conference call.

Asked whether the company’s new initiatives could lead to a shift from Apple’s historical trend of spending about $10 billion on capex, Maestri said Apple differs from some other companies in that it sometimes uses its own data centers and sometimes uses third-party providers.
