Manchester United start date to be announced following ‘full agreement’, contract length and salary to be revealed

Manchester United and Sporting have reached a “full agreement” for Ruben Amorim to become the next Manchester United manager, with finer details of the deal already revealed.

Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday, with Ruud van Nistelrooy taking over as interim manager. The Red Devils moved quickly to target No. 1 Ruben Amorim and TelegraphA “full agreement” was reached with Sporting on the release of the coach.

Both Telegraph And Daily mail have revealed finer details of the agreement, starting with when Amorim will arrive at Old Trafford.

It is claimed that Amorim will not take charge of Manchester United until the November international break, which begins after the matches on Sunday 10 November.

Accordingly, van Nistelrooy will remain in temporary charge for United’s next three matches – Chelsea (3 November), PAOK (Europa League – 7 November) and Leicester (10 November).

Amorim’s first game as manager is therefore expected to be the Premier League clash with Ipswich Town on November 24 – the first match after the international break.

However, the 30-day notice period appears to be the reason for the delay. Telegraph stated that Manchester United are paying more than €10 million to not only attract Amorim’s coaching staff, but also to ensure that Sporting waive the clause.

However, with coaches Carlos Fernandez, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro (assistants), Jorge Vital (goalkeeping coach) and Paulo Barreira (fitness coach) ready to dramatically weaken Sporting with their move to Old Trafford, the delay will give Sporting » a few weeks to hire a replacement and get your house in order. Amorim has always insisted that he does not want to harm Sporting with his possible departure.

In terms of cost, it was claimed that Manchester United would pay €12 million (€2 million above the release clause) to buy out the coaches. This additional €2 million will also cover the fee that Sporting demanded to allow Amorim to leave within the 30-day notice period.

Both publications stated that Amorim will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract that will run until the end of the 2026/27 season. An option for an additional year will also be included.

In terms of salary, Amorim will earn more than three times what he earned at Sporting (£2.15 million per year), earning £6.5 million per season at United.

What’s going on with Ruud van Nistelrooy

Speaking after United’s 5-2 League Cup win over Leicester, Van Nistelrooy made it clear he wants to remain at Old Trafford in some capacity.

“I came here as an assistant to help the club,” the Dutchman said. “Now in this role I help as much as necessary.

“In the future, in whatever capacity, I’m here to help the club move forward, that’s what I’m here for.

“I’m here to help, serve and give my all to the club in whatever capacity I can and there are so many people around me who want the best for the club and that will never change.”

But with Amorim expected to bring five of his coaches, including assistants, to Manchester, both reports suggested Van Nistelrooy could be ditched when new faces arrive.
