Congressional candidates Johnny Olszewski and Kim Klacik argue about Trump

Voters in Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District are choosing between a Democrat running on his record and a Republican who won’t directly answer who won the 2020 election.

When asked about the 2020 election on WYPR NoonRepublican Kim Klacik replied, “I think there were a lot of legal issues that were kind of hidden, but I’m looking forward, you know, I’m not looking back.”

Klacik added, “If I get to Capitol Hill, I will push for voter ID and ensuring integrity in our elections because I don’t feel like we have that right now.”

Klacik supports former President Donald Trump, who endorsed her when she ran unsuccessfully for Maryland’s 7th Congressional District in 2020. She said people who fear a second Trump presidency have been lied to.

“I don’t think President Trump is a scary monster who is telling all these lies,” Klacik said.

IN separate interview on NoonDemocrat Johnny Olszewski, the Baltimore County executive, asked voters to review his record.

“Compare and contrast someone like Donald Trump and my opponent in this race: if you believe in integrity and honesty, you have a clear choice,” Olszewski said.

Olszewski added that he has no problem admitting mistakes.

“Unlike the former president, whom my opponent readily supported, he is very supportive,” Olszewski said.

Olshevsky advertises his experience in office as well as being a public school teacher.

Klacik said she wants the government to spend taxpayers’ money more wisely and efficiently.

The Second Congressional District consists of most of Baltimore and Carroll counties, as well as part of Baltimore City.

The winner will replace Democratic Party veteran K.A. “Dutch” Ruppersberger, who is retiring.
