Here at ZDNET, we cover the virtual private network (VPN) market extensively and keep an eye out for any great deals.

At Stack Social, we’ve spotted an interesting promotion for anyone who wants to use VPN software to hide their online activity from prying eyes, including internet service providers, marketers, and other groups that can track which websites you visit and online -services you use. .

The VPN in question comes from AdGuard, a company known for its ad and tracker blocking technologies. You now also have the option to try out their standalone VPN, which can provide an extra layer of privacy to protect your browsing.

What I like about this offer is the price. For $35 (90% off), you can sign up for a five-year plan that gives you access to a VPN for the equivalent of about $0.58 per month. The subscription includes 10 simultaneous device connections, and AdGuard has a no-logging policy.

AdGuard VPN’s one- and three-year subscription deals are also available for $15 and $25 respectively, and while they’re inexpensive, they’re more in line with the typical promotions offered by other VPN providers.

The mobile versions of this VPN for iOS and Android are easy to set up, with a clean layout and simple menu bar. You can choose a default smart location by simply clicking a button, or you can browse the list of servers and countries (over 60 locations) to find your preferred location. Its speed is good and I didn’t notice any real difference in browsing or using apps.

However, there is a caveat: I can’t recommend this VPN solely for MacOS use. During testing, I found that even logging in is difficult and it is very slow. In short, the mobile user experience is what you’d expect from a decent VPN, but the MacOS app needs a lot of work. (We have a list of VPNs that are great for Mac if you need them.)

A free option is available, but keep in mind that VPN traffic, connection speeds and server locations are very limited.
