Liverpool News: Reds continue to crack down on ticket advertising

Liverpool have vowed to continue to crack down on ticket advertising and claim to have handed out 75 lifetime bans over the issue last season.

The club says it has closed around 100,000 fake ticket accounts and suspended 136 players indefinitely for the 2023/24 season.

“A further 5,670 accounts are currently being monitored by the club for suspicious activity, including providing services to individuals who were recently charged by Merseyside Police with fraud related to ticket advertising,” the club said.

“For the 2023/24 season, a total of 1,500 tickets were canceled either as part of mass cancellations or from account holders who had already been sanctioned and tickets were available for resale.

“The vast majority of lifetime and permanent bans were imposed for the unauthorized sale of season tickets, memberships or hospitality tickets in breach of terms and conditions. This reflects the club’s zero tolerance approach to all forms of ticket advertising.

“This season the club has continued to increase investment in anti-advertising measures, including developing more effective online protection, increasing on-site operations and devoting more internal resources to enforcement.”
