Liverpool are eyeing a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future is still uncertain

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future continues to dominate the headlines, with the England international yet to commit his future to Liverpool.

Links with Real Madrid look set to continue and Reds fans fear they could lose the right-back to Los Blancos about a free transfer at the end of the season.

The situation for the Merseyside club’s fans is compounded by the uncertainty that also clouds the futures of captain Virgil van Dijk and talisman Mohamed Salah, both of whom are out of contract next summer.

As Anfield officials consider their options if 26-year-old Alexander-Arnold decides to leave, a report has emerged claiming they could make a move for PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.

That’s according to Fichajes.net, which suggests Liverpool will only opt for the Moroccan if Alexander-Arnold decides to bring down the curtain on his glorious spell at the club.

However, Liverpool are unlikely to be alone in the race for Hakimi and the report suggests they could face competition for the right-back from Manchester City, who could view him as a successor to Kyle Walker. Real Madrid have also been linked with an interest in the 25-year-old, but it appears they will only make a move if they fail to land Alexander-Arnold.

Hakimi’s contract with the Ligue 1 club expires in 2026 and the Spanish outlet reports the French giants could be open to transfer talks when he has just 12 months left on his contract next summer.

The coming few weeks and months at Liverpool are shaping up to be interesting, with the futures of three of their biggest players to be decided as the club looks to build on the excellent start made by Arne Slote at Anfield.
