Six years ago, as a candidate for the U.S. Senate, I promised to do what was right for Nevada and not play the same old Washington games. I also promised not to toe the party line – and I’m proud to say I never did.

I am considered one of the most bipartisan, independent and effective senators in the country because I have never hesitated to put aside party affiliations or champion special interests on behalf of our state. I worked with both sides to get things done and make a real difference in the lives of Nevadans.

I was able to help people like Edward, a Marine veteran from Las Vegas who spent months inhaling toxic smoke from burning pits in Afghanistan. When he returned home, his skin began to itch uncontrollably—to the point of bleeding—but he struggled to get help from the VA. It is unacceptable for anyone who has served our nation to be treated this way.

That’s why I worked with Democrats and Republicans to pass the PACT Act, a historic expansion of health benefits for veterans suffering from toxic exposure to burn pits, Agent Orange, radiation and other chemicals during their service. Now veterans like Edward can get the care they need and earn: More than 28,000 Nevada veterans have already applied for health care.

I also oppose giant corporations that are increasing costs while making record profits. I asked big pharmaceutical companies to cap the price of insulin at $35 a month and finally give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug costs. I also take on price gouging by CEOs of big oil companies who raise prices at gas stations and big grocery store chains who try to reduce competition at the expense of consumers.

We need to make the American dream of home ownership more accessible to hardworking families. That’s why I fight to reduce housing costs by cracking down on corporate investors who are buying up housing stock and driving up costs.

It’s time to bring these bad guys to justice and provide economic relief to everyday Nevadans struggling to keep a roof over their heads.

NEVADA SENATE HOPPERS TACKLE TRANS ATHLETES, IMMIGRATION AND UFOS IN ULTIMATE DEBATE

I have made it clear that I will not hesitate to stand up to special interests or my party to do what is right for Nevada and our country. I have repeatedly broken with Democrats to push for more funding for border security and support for police officers.

I also voted against my party’s opposition to federal regulations that would hurt Nevada ranchers and ranchers, and I opposed the Biden Administration’s proposal to impose new taxes on our state’s mining industry.

On matters of national security, I back down from no one when it comes to my ironclad support for Israel’s right to self-defense. I helped deliver critically needed Iron Dome batteries to protect Israel after the Hamas attack, and I broke with Democratic leadership to hold Iran accountable for supporting terrorism. I will never hesitate to speak out against anti-Israel extremists, including those in my own party.

6 ELECTION VOTES IN A KEY STATE DEPEND ON THE PERFORMANCE OF CANDIDATES IN THAT DISTRICT

I have served on the Senate Armed Services Committee for the past four years, working in a bipartisan manner to strengthen our national security and our military, and to secure Nevada’s many defense assets.

Here’s my message to Nevada voters in this important election: I don’t work for anyone in Washington – I work for you. My opponent Sam Brown is a far-right politician who can’t say the same thing. While I am focused on working together to achieve real results, he is focused on pushing a highly partisan agenda that will hurt hardworking families.

Sam Brown has repeatedly advocated banning abortion over the past decade, even in cases of rape or incest. He will repeal our new law that caps the cost of insulin and allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices. He called it “a great loss for the American people.” He also called for raising interest rates even higher for hard-working families — and backed a sweeping plan that would phase out Social Security and Medicare in just five years.

Brown also opposed the toughest border security legislation in decades – even before the text of the bill was released – because he used immigration as a political football rather than supporting the solution. There’s a crisis on our southern border, and I’m fighting for common sense, bipartisan reforms to secure the border, fight fentanyl, fix our broken immigration system, and keep our communities safe. My opponent would prefer to play political games.

Every day I try to embody the unbreakable spirit of Nevada’s independence, forged by my own experiences after nearly 50 years of living, working and raising a family here. To continue making progress for hardworking families, we need leaders who are willing to put politics aside and do what’s right for our state. If re-elected, I promise to continue to do this in the Senate.
