St. Paul police ask for help after 83-year-old man dies in hit-and-run

St. Paul police are asking for the public’s help after an 83-year-old man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run earlier this month.

On Oct. 19, police were called to the intersection of Arlington Avenue E. and McAfee Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. when a motorist discovered a man lying unconscious in the road. He later died after being taken to hospital.

The man was identified as John Bydon, who lived near the intersection, according to police department information posted Monday on social media. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Bydon most likely died as a result of being struck by a vehicle.

There are no known witnesses to the incident and police do not have a description of the vehicle, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, department spokesman.

Anyone with information about the incident should call St. Paul police at 651-266-5722.
