Tesco settles sexual harassment case for £45,000

Tesco settles sexual harassment case for £45,000

Ms Storey said that after making the complaint, the colleague she complained about remained in his post after “assurances were given that they would be retrained or transferred to another department or store”.

“He had to work with me for these months—a year and a year and then some,” she said.

Ms Storey said: “I wish none of this had ever happened.

“I was a university student and didn’t ask for anything like that.

“I had to challenge it and I’m glad I did.

“I want other women to know that they do not have to put up with this type of behavior or treatment and should expect to be treated fairly by their employer.”

Ms Storey said Tesco had not offered her any support or assistance while the complaint was pending and previous assurances that she would not work with the colleague involved in the complaint had not been substantiated.

“Any assurances I received were continually violated by (Tesco).”

Ms Storey said she believed she had to change her work schedule and location at the store to avoid the co-worker.

“I voluntarily removed myself from that environment and was told throughout the entire process that he had as much right to work in that store as I did.”
