How to watch the Queensland People’s Forum to see the final debate between Steven Miles and David Crisafulli before the state election

Queensland Premier Steven Miles and Opposition Leader David Crisafulli are set to go head-to-head in their final debate before the state election at the Sky News/The Courier-Mail People’s Forum.

The hour-long debate, hosted by Sky News Australia’s chief news anchor Kieran Gilbert in Brisbane, will begin on Tuesday 22 October at 6:30pm AEST/7:30pm AEDT.

Voters chosen by YouGov will have the opportunity to take part in the debate and ask their questions to the two frontrunners before voting on Saturday 26 October.

Gilbert described the debate as the “final flashpoint of the campaign” for Miles and Crisafulli, who must make their case to Queenslanders before heading to the polls.

“The beauty of the Sky News/Courier-Mail People’s Forum is that the two leaders also come face to face with a room full of undecided voters,” he said.

“Voters can ask questions on any issue they like. They are unscripted and unpredictable, which is what makes these debates such a challenge for leaders.”

Courier-Mail editor Chris Jones expects the debate to be insightful as voters question Miles and Crisafulli on the issues that matter to them.

“We’ve put real Queenslanders at the center of our campaign coverage, with our panel of voters delivering their verdicts regularly and our reporters asking readers questions about the leaders every day,” Mr Jones said.

“The People’s Forum will build on this success because it is the only time leaders meet with real voters and not those carefully selected by their professional mentors.

“These unplanned moments are usually the best moments in a campaign, and seeing how leaders have to respond to the concerns of real swing voters is always fun and educational.”

Sky News Australia chief executive Paul Whittaker said the final debate would “test the mettle” of Miles and Crisafulli as they battle to win over undecided voters.

“The People’s Forum is a key moment in any election campaign and has served as a key event in our federal and state election coverage since 2010,” Mr Whittaker said.

“After weeks of campaigning, this final debate of the campaign will test the mettle of both leaders as they compete under pressure to win the hearts and minds of undecided Queensland voters just days before they cast their ballots.”
