Bargain hunters are delighted that Ikea’s budget Christmas tree is now even cheaper at £5 – but people are crying that it’s the “saddest thing ever”.

Shoppers have been left completely divided over a cheap Ikea Christmas tree.

While some thought it would be ideal for those on a tight budget, others called it the “saddest” tree they’ve ever seen.

It comes after one savvy shopper, Barbara Mack, took to social media to show off her Ikea find, leaving many with their mouths open.

Posting to the group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a private Facebook group with 2.5 million members, Barbara shared click festive find – an artificial Christmas tree Winterfint.

The 150cm tall tree is currently on sale on Ikea’s website for £30, but the Charlton store not only slashed the price initially to £9.50, but has now reduced it again to £5.

Delighted with her find, Barbara said: “Today at Ikea Charlton – can help people on a budget.”

According to Ikea, this cheap Christmas tree is ideal for those who want a “really tall and bushy Christmas tree.”

This artificial tree is “guaranteed to be needle-free” and takes up “little storage space” as it can be unscrewed into smaller pieces.

This artificial plant is made from plastic, at least 50% of which comes from renewable sources.

This December it will look perfect as a holiday decoration both indoors and outdoors.

But if you want to get your hands on this budget tree, you’ll have to act fast.

The tree was labeled as an “outgoing product”, which in Ikea terminology means it is a discontinued product and is no longer part of their range.

“I’ll get it all tomorrow,” shoppers rave about The Range’s bargain-priced crystal LED Christmas decorations.

But Facebook users were left completely divided over the cheap purchase.

While some called him “gorgeous” and claimed he would look “beautiful” when decorated, others were “shocked” by how “skinny” and “sad” he looked.

Will the Christmas segments be released early this year?

It often feels like Christmas decorations and merchandise start appearing in stores earlier each year.
Retailers typically begin stocking Christmas items well before the holiday season begins to capitalize on early shoppers and extend the shopping period. Here are a few reasons why it might seem like the Christmas segments came out earlier this year:

Extended shopping season
Retailers are looking to extend the holiday shopping season to maximize sales. By releasing Christmas items earlier, they encourage people to start their holiday shopping earlier.

Consumer demand
Some consumers prefer to plan and shop early for Christmas, so stores are meeting this demand by stocking holiday items in advance.

Marketing strategy
Displaying Christmas merchandise early can create a festive atmosphere and build anticipation, encouraging people to get into the holiday spirit and start spending.

Competition
Retailers are competing to attract shoppers, and being the first to introduce holiday items can give them an advantage.

Supply Chain Issues
Given recent disruptions to global supply chains, stores may be releasing Christmas items earlier to ensure sufficient stock and spread demand over a longer period.

However, at the same time, one shopper criticized: “It’s just shocking how empty it is.”

A second chimed in: “This is the saddest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen.”

One bargain hunter admitted: “Thinner than my handbag at the moment.”

And another snapped: “IKEA trees look despicable, they look like they need feeding, even the cheap B&M trees have more branches.”
