Why Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin “loves” playing for Dan Quinn

Why Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin “loves” playing for Dan Quinn

The Washington Commanders are 6-2 on the season, a far cry from where the team was a year ago and clearly their best start since Terry McLaurin took over in 2019.

McLaurin has been through a lot in his six seasons in the NFL, but things aren’t as good as they are now with coach Dan Quinn at the helm.

Following the team’s Hail Mary victory over the Chicago Bears, McLaurin expressed his gratitude to Quinn.

“He and I just talked to each other and I love playing under him. He’s my coach,” McLaurin said of Quinn. “I believe that I am the kind of player when you want in important moments, you want to perform for your team. And that’s the thing about me and him just sharing that moment, knowing that we were just telling each other, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over” and winning moments. And I appreciate DQ for the energy that he brings, for the belief that he puts in our team, and we rallied around that.”

Quinn’s energy radiated throughout the team and was largely responsible for the team’s incredible recovery.

All commanders share Quinn’s philosophy and it is clear that the entire team is on the same page. This is often overlooked in general terms, but it should not be forgotten.

It’s hard to turn things around in the first year with a new head coach if there’s no real commitment to him. And after beating the Bears, this team believed in the coaching staff and each other more than ever.
