Thunder predicted they would acquire future Hall of Famer via trade with Spurs

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the most formidable teams in the NBA, but they may still be too young to compete.

The Thunder would definitely benefit from having a veteran presence in the locker room, much like how Chris Paul helps the San Antonio Spurs and their young core.

Here’s an out-of-the-box idea: What if Oklahoma City decides to lure Paul straight from the Spurs and use the 12-time All-Star as a backup to replace Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?

This isn’t an entirely new proposal, as Bleacher Report’s Greg Schwartz suggested Paul-OKC in a new report on Monday.

Oklahoma City Thunder will be likely play low-key until the deadline, deciding to grow that young core and let the roster develop organically,” Schwartz said.

“That being said… reuniting with Paul or (Dennis) Schröder as a veteran playmaker behind Gilgeous-Alexander would help, especially in the postseason.”

Many people forget that Paul played for the Thunder in the 2019-20 season. Not only that, but CP3 averaged 17.6 points and 6.7 assists per game for Oklahoma City in 70 contests and finished seventh in MVP voting.

While Paul loves life in San Antonio as the older brother of Victor Vembanyama and Stephon Castle (two potential Hall of Famers), what he would love even more is the opportunity to return to the Thunder and win his first ring.
