Veteran truck driver on the road for over 50 years

Chris Binks has been with Geoff Richards Transport for 16 years.

Driven by veteran truck driver Chris Binks, the colorful Kenworth T909 is often referred to as the Yellow Submarine.

It’s not surprising, because dogs like its bright color, you know what.

Chris, 72, lives in Brisbane and has been a driver for Geoff Richards Transport for 16 years.

“I have brought Ipec materials from Brisbane to Cairns and need to pick up products near Gumlu for southern markets,” he said.

A community-minded man, Chris has been a truck driver for over five decades and is looking forward to taking part in the upcoming Brisbane Children’s Convoy.

“I participated in this last year and it’s a great cause,” he said.

Chris likes BP Cluden Roadhouse because he says it has good amenities, such as clean showers and convenient truck storage.

He added that more rest areas are needed just for trucks, and like many other drivers, they are often clogged with vans.

But he said Waverley Creek between Rockhampton and Sarina was a good option.

I asked Chris what his hobbies were outside of work, and he said he enjoyed relaxing at home, including spending a lot of time at the spa.

“I also like to eat fresh fish, such as red emperor and grilled mackerel. I also like to garden,” he said.

On the road, Chris often takes food with him, which he stores in the refrigerator and cooks in the microwave or on a small gas stove.

His favorite football team is the Washington-based West Coast Eagles of the AFL.

Despite finishing last in the 2024 season, Chris said he was successful. loops and they will
