Kal Ho Naa Ho, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles, has turned out to be a success with its latest re-release. Over the years, the film has gained its loyal fan base and even today it attracts audiences to the theaters, which is commendable. The Indian box office completed its second weekend yesterday and surprisingly, the collections were much higher than the opening weekend.

The re-release trend is in full swing in India. The nostalgia factor always resonates with audiences and when cinemas show old classics at affordable prices, the audience is always there. This year saw several successful Bollywood repeats like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Rockstar, Laila Majnu and Veer Zaara. Now KHNH has joined that list.

Kal Ho Naa Ho was re-released in theaters on November 15. Its re-run started with it earning 12 lakhs and continued to grow every day. It collected an impressive 2.02 crores at the Indian box office in its first week. Considering the popularity among viewers, the film collected a good number of screenings around the world.

The second weekend started decently with 17 lakhs coming in on the eighth day. On the second Saturday, a spike was recorded with receipts of Rs 45 lakh. Yesterday there was another spike with 51.50 lakhs received. So, after 10 days, the total cost of re-release of Kal Ho Naa Ho is 3.15 crores at the Indian box office.

For the uninitiated, Kal Ho Naa Ho was made on a budget of 28 croresand during the original theatrical performance it started working 38.60 crores. Including repetition, the collection is equal to 41.75 crores. So, when comparing budgets, the ROI (return on investment) of a film is 13.75 crores. In further calculations it is equal to 49.10% returns.

Kal Ho Naa Ho needs a total of 42 crores to make 50% profit. So one more 25 lakhs is needed and is expected to be resolved in a couple of days.
