Thus, eating 400 bananas will provide 168,800 mg of potassium, which is above the safe level. Such consumption is almost impossible for any healthy person. Therefore, bananas can be considered safe and nutritious.

In addition, many other foods contain potassium-40 and other naturally occurring radioactive isotopes. These include potatoes, spinach and Brazil nuts. Brazil nuts are reported to have even higher radium concentrations in bananas. However, this does not make either of them unsafe to eat as they only cause minor radiation exposure.
