Drake confirms he will tour Australia in 2025

Drake has officially announced his return to Australia for the Anita Max Wynn Tour, marking his first visit to the country in eight years.

The Canadian rap icon accidentally revealed the news during a livestream with gaming streamer xQc on Sunday night (November 24), revealing that the tour would begin on February 9 and run until early March.

“On February 9th, for everyone watching from Australia, I am returning to Australia for the first time in eight years. Heading back to tour Australia,” Drake shared during the livestream. “Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast… February 9th and then… sometime in March.”

While specific dates and locations have yet to be confirmed, Drake has promised to perform in key cities such as Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. However, the OVO rapper appears to have ruled out visiting “other places.”

The announcement was a big moment for Drake’s Australian fans, who last saw him perform live during the concert. Boy meets world Tour in 2017. “It’s funny, it’s actually called Anita Max Winn Tour,Drake told XQC during the stream.

The tour’s kickoff timing is especially noteworthy as it coincides with Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance on the same day. The two artists have been involved in a well-documented musical feud for a year, with artists hurling diss tracks at each other such as Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “Push Ups.” Lamar also surprised recently – he released his latest album, GNKS.

Anita Max Winn is a reference to a viral moment from Drake’s Kick livestream in December 2023. During the broadcast, he introduced an “alter ego” of the same name, a pun on the gambling phrase “I need the max win,” which refers to getting the maximum payout on a slot machine.

The phrase, popularized by streamer Adin Ross, quickly became an internet sensation, inspiring memes, TikTok edits and exaggerated depictions of Drake’s character. Now the joke has come full circle, giving the name to Drake’s 2025 Australian tour.

Drake previously hinted at his return to the country earlier this month by posting an old photo of himself in front of the Sydney Opera House on his Instagram Story, writing: “It’s been about 7 years.”

In addition to the tour announcement, Drake also provided an update on his upcoming collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, stating: “The Me and Party album is 75 percent done, paying tribute to PX’s cooking right now. The album sounds incredible… This album is good; it’s the sound people know and love us for.”

Drake and Party announced their joint album back in August when they performed together on stage in Toronto.

Earlier this month, PND took to his Instagram Live as he wrapped up the European leg of his Sorry, I’m Outside tour to reveal that his project with Drake was nearing completion. “Guys, I have one more show on this tour,” he told his followers. “Then the album ends. That’s all I have to say.”
