Ranbir Kapoor reacts to man telling him films like Animal should not be encouraged: ‘I agree, but…’ | Bollywood

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has reacted after someone criticized his films Animal (2023) and Sanju (2018) for glorifying violence. The actor spoke about films and the responsibility of an actor at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) taking place in Goa. Ranbir responds to Animal criticism

At the event, a person said that Sanju and Animal show that no matter what happens, anything can be achieved through violence. He also said that the release of such films should not be greatly encouraged. The man also praised old films for their good stories.

This is what Ranbir said

Reacting to this, Ranbir said, “I completely agree with your opinion. As actors, we have a responsibility to create films that bring positive change to society. Having said that, I am an actor and it is very important that I also try out different genres and different characters and play different roles. But what you say is absolutely true. We have to be more responsible about the kind of films we make.”

About animals

Upon release, Animal received mixed reviews from critics. It has been criticized for its depiction of misogyny, toxic masculinity, film themes and depictions of violence. Animal is an action drama film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripty Dimri.

Sanju (2018) is a biographical film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt and features Ranbir in the lead role. It also featured Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza and Jim Sarbh.
