Air Force planes nearly collided with each other at Ramat David base – Israel News

Two Israeli Air Force planes nearly collided with each other earlier this week at Ramat David airbase, Channel 12 reported on Monday, adding that no injuries were reported from the incident.

According to the report, the incident occurred when the F16 was preparing to take off for a surgical strike in Lebanon and received erroneous clearance from the control tower.

Having received the green light, the plane began to take off, after which the pilot noticed another plane in front of him and managed to slow down and deviate the plane from its course.

The IDF is investigating the incident.

Channel 12 noted that the Air Force is investigating the incident.

“In this incident, a collision between two fighter jets was avoided during take-off due to an incorrect take-off clearance issued by the control tower while the other aircraft was on the runway,” IDF Channel 12 quoted IDF as saying in response to the incident.

“The crews responded quickly and professionally, preventing a serious safety incident. The incident will be investigated; there was no material damage and no casualties,” the IDF further commented.
