Are these characters missing from Dynasty Warriors Origins?

47 (Forty seven). This is the total number of Musou officers (the official term for unique combat characters) Koei Tecmo and Omega Force indicated in Origin of Dynasty Warriors. This number is also exactly half Dynasty Warriors 9 a list that included 94 characters. Since then, we have known all the characters on this list. But while most of the missing characters are due to period restrictions, a few actually belong to the period covered and thus can add depth to the story. Origin of Dynasty Warriors questionable.

PS2 era Warrior Dynasty records covered events up to the Battle of Wuzhang Plains in 234 AD. Dynasty Warriors 7 and further extended its reach until the fall of the kingdom of Shu in 264 AD. However, OriginProducer Tomohiko Sho revealed that the new game will not be released until the Battle of Chi Bi/Red Cliffs in 208 AD.

This naturally means that characters born or debuted after 208 AD have no chance of appearing here. I also noticed a general aversion to the appearance of child characters outside of Sun Jian’s family, such as Cao Pi and Guan Ping. Additionally, the protagonist’s point of view will deviate from the Han coalition and follow one of the three major faction leaders of the period. This means that the game will not have events outside of these viewpoints, such as Ma Chao’s debut shortly after Dong Zhuo’s assassination in Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

However, not all characters missing from Origin of Dynasty Warriorsthe composition may be consistent with the above reasons. Some of them have notable cameos in the game’s timeline, but they are still missing from the list.

For example, when Tomohiko Sho talked about Zhuge Liang’s wife Yueying, he added that she would be the only female character in Liu Bei’s faction. This phrase largely excludes Xiahouji, Xiahou Yuan’s niece, who would also become Zhang Fei’s future wife. The fateful meeting of these two will take place in 200 AD, which is still within Origin» covered timeline.

We also saw Zhenji appear in both action and event scenes. However, her lack of future husband Cao Pi calls into question her prominence in the storyline. I would like to see Cai Wenji take the seat instead. She might appear in a minor scene based on the episode in 207 AD when Cao Cao ransomed her from the Xiongnu tribe. Plus, she doesn’t have any extra baggage since none of her immediate family became unique characters in the series.

On the other hand, in the Sun family, Da Qiao once suffered the fate of being left out of the list. Dynasty Warriors 6on the list, along with her sister Xiao Qiao. However, this time, none of the sisters are on the list. This may add to the question of how Omega Force will handle the backstory of the Battle of Chi Bi, as Cao Cao’s interest in the Qiao sisters has been touted as one of the motivations for the campaign.

Besides the three main factions, Dong Zhuo’s granddaughter Dong Bai is one of the characters not listed in Origin of Dynasty Warriors despite appearing in Dynasty Warriors Explosion And Dynasty Warriors 9. Although Dong Bai did not appear in Romance of the Three Kingdomsshe received mention in historical Records of the Three Kingdoms. Her appearance would help portray a different side to Dong Zhuo, who bestowed titles and privileges on his family when he was in power.

One of the biggest omissions from the list is Lu Bu’s daughter, Lu Lingqi. The character has been gaining popularity in the Three Kingdoms fandom since Koei introduced her in the 2003 game. Dynasty Tactics 2. Portraying Lu Bu’s daughter as a warrior similar to her father has become a staple in many Three Kingdoms-themed games, so removing her from the list would be inappropriate.

I’ve mostly mentioned the series’ female characters above, but there are a few notable male figures that are missing from the series. Origin of Dynasty Warriors‘ List of 47 characters. Lu Xun, Xu Sheng, and Ding Feng were among the people who had recently joined Sun Quan when the latter took over leadership of the clan in the early 200s. However, it can be argued that their main focus will be on later battles.

But a couple of the most notable omissions were made by Cao Cao’s faction. Man Chong worked under Cao Cao from the early days. But even though he carried out almost no noticeable activities during the initial period of battles, he was the very person responsible for recruiting the great general Xu Huang into the ranks of Cao Cao.

However, no lineup omission is more jarring than Cao Ren’s absence. Historical notes suggest that the general often commanded separate units away from Cao Cao’s main army, but the inclusion of Xu Shu necessitates the depiction of the latter’s one-time tactical support to Liu Bei, which became the Battle of Xinye in the novel. Although Li Dian also took part in this battle on the opposite side, there would have been a huge unfilled void if Cao Ren himself had not appeared as the army commander.

When I wrote this article, Omega Force was still gradually introducing 16 characters that had appeared on the game’s official website. Therefore, it is still unclear whether the characters mentioned above will appear or whether they are completely absent. Origin of Dynasty Warriors.

But after seeing Zhuge Liang’s teacher Sima Hui as a new peaceful NPC, I have hope that some of the above characters may still appear as event-exclusive NPCs. However, seeing warrior characters like Cao Ren and Lu Lingqi without any martial displays would still be quite inappropriate.

Origin of Dynasty Warriors will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC worldwide on January 17, 2025.
