Kalki 2898AD: Makers Share BIG News About Deepika Padukone’s Character in the Sequel

Sci-fi epic by Nag Ashwin Kalki 2898 AD e. was one of the biggest releases of the year. After taking the box office by storm, the creators have already started working on the second part of the film. Looking at the updates, it seems that viewers didn’t have to wait long for the sequel.

The pan-Indian film stars some of the biggest actors in the Indian film industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone among others.

At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt, producers of Vyjayanthi Movies, spoke about the sequel and what audiences can expect from the second part.

When asked about the success of the first part, Priyanka and Swapna Dutt said, “For us, doing a good second part is enough.”

The sister duo confirmed that 35% of the preliminary preparations have already been completed.

“30-35 percent of the second part has already been filmed. “Kalki 2 will have a big international release,” they said.

The producers also spoke about Padukone’s character and how involved she will be in the second part of the film.

Responding in kind, they said, “Deepika will continue to play the role of Mother in some parts of the second part.”

In the film, the actress played the role of Sumati, a pregnant woman who is saved by Ashwathama (Amitabh Bachchan). The sequel will also feature Prabhas and Bachchan reprising their roles as Bhairava and Ashwathama respectively.

There are reports that filming for the sequel will begin next year. When asked about it, Swapna said, “We haven’t finalized the dates yet, but we will announce it soon.”

The sci-fi thriller, written and directed by Naga Ashwin, is based on the Indian mythology of the Mahabharata. The second part will reportedly feature Bhairava and Ashwathama’s fight against antagonist Haasan Jaskin.

The film did wonders at the box office, earning over Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion).
