IPL 2025 Auction: Gujarat releases Mohammed Shami for Rs 10 crore to Hyderabad

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 star player Mohammed Shami has been sold for Rs 10 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shami had previously played for Gujarat Titans and even after a brilliant performance in the World Cup as well as the domestic championship, Shami was not recruited by the Titans.

There were some really big announcements made in the initial bidding as Punjab Kings made a generous bid and signed Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh for Rs 24.75 crore and Rs 18 crore respectively.

However, it was Rishabh Pant who became the most expensive player in IPL history as Lucknow Super Giants spent a whopping Rs 27 crore to buy the flamboyant Indian wicketkeeper-batsman at the tournament’s mega auction.
Iyer, who previously played for the Kolkata Knight Riders as captain and also helped the team lift the IPL trophy in the last edition, started with a base price of Rs two crore.

Delhi Capitals offered Rs 26 crore for him, but PBKS spoiled the party for most teams when they spent their pockets to get the player.

Chennai Super Kings started with the first bid for Arshdeep, whose base price was also Rs two crore. Eventually, after a bitter bidding war, the seamer was bought out by Punjab, who exercised the equity option to complete the deal, having released him earlier.

This is the second IPL auction to be held outside the country after last year’s event in Dubai.
