The Pointers men’s hockey team avoided back-to-back losses with a win over UW-Superior

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) – Under the current WIAC schedule, the UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey team has never lost back-to-back games against conference opponents. After a 5-1 loss to UW-River Falls on Friday, the Pointers avoided that setback with a 5-4 win over UW-Superior on Saturday night.

Stevens Point led comfortably 4–1 entering the second period. Fletcher Anderson, Chris Engelbert, Payton Hart and Niko Chmielewski scored the team’s first four goals.

The Yellowjackets would score three straight goals to tie the game at four apiece. But with less than seven minutes left in the third period, Joshua German broke the tie and scored the final winning goal for the Pointers.

UWSP will have six days to prepare for its next home game against UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
