Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was fined $19,697 after celebrating after making a 64-yard touchdown catch in a 52-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The celebration was reminiscent of what former Seattle Seahawks great Marshawn Lynch had during his “Beast Quake” touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the 2010 NFC Wild Card round.

It’s understandable why Williams was in a celebratory mood after taking a pass down the middle and racing down the sideline, leaving all the Jaguar defenders in the dust. This in turn gave the Lions a 34-6 lead en route to a blowout 46-point victory.

The fine will hit Williams’ wallet, although it’s a little easier to cover given his four-year entry-level contract with a full guarantee of $17,461,792. Plus, things are looking great for Detroit right now, having won eight straight and moved to the NFL’s best 9-1 record on the year.

Williams made big strides throughout the year to help the Lions get there, catching 24 passes for 538 yards and four touchdowns on the year. Most notably, he caught four passes for 124 yards and the aforementioned score against Jacksonville.

Williams and the Lions will look to continue their momentum on Sunday when they visit the Indianapolis Colts.
