Thousands of people from all over the world compete in Sarasota.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Crowds from around the world are gathering at Nathan Benderson Park this week to take part in a competition like no other: professional kayaking.

Participants came from all over, including representatives from Greece, Brazil and other countries.

The competition was far from over on Saturday as the technical competition began in earnest, starting with the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals and ending with the final of the fourth day of the five-day competition.

It all ends on Sunday when the distance racers hold their final championship. Tomorrow there will also be children’s runs, fun runs and inflatable runs, culminating in a closing ceremony towards the end of the day.
