Texas Longhorns QB Dia Bell decision after serious leg injury

AUSTIN β€” Texas Longhorns 2026 quarterback Dia Bell is officially on the road to recovery, just over five months after making her promise to head coach Steve Sarkisian and company.

Bell, a four-star defensive tackle at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, was removed from the field with a serious leg injury in Friday’s playoff game against Dillard. He was injured in the third quarter with his team trailing 14-0, but American Heritage was able to rally and score 24 unanswered for a 24-14 victory.

Bell shared a photo on social media showing his right leg but assured Texas fans he will be fine.

β€œThank you everyone for the prayers! I’m so proud of my teammates for making it to the W playoffs! Fortunately, all x-rays were negative. I’ll be back soon! #HookEm,” Bell tweeted.

He then shared a video of himself undergoing rehabilitation less than 24 hours after the injury.

Take a look:

Bell initially departed for Texas on June 17.

β€œI really enjoyed my visits and developed a great relationship with Coach Sark and AJ Milvey,” Bell told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. β€œThey are one of the best offenses in the country and they have a lot of history developing at my position. β€œI’m very excited about their move to the SEC and the opportunity to help bring a championship to 40 acres.”

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Bell has a zero deal with Leaf Trading Cards. The deal will reportedly be a signature opportunity for Bell in his home state of Florida.

Heading into this high school season, Bell had completed 135 of 210 passes for 2,246 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions, while also rushing 58 times for 116 yards and three more scores over the past two years.
