Zoe Saldaña might just be the reigning queen of blockbuster franchises, with many of her films being in the billion-dollar budget club, unless… we count her co-star Chris Pratt, who’s pretty much everywhere you look! But seriously, the woman’s resume reads like a nerd’s dream from Avatarin the MCU, in Star TrekTo Pirates of the Caribbean.

Now, with her latest role in Special Forces: Lionessshe puts on performances that are just like a chef’s kiss. She recently announced that she has no interest in returning to the Marvel Universe, and honestly, fans might just be okay with that! While she continues to amaze us with projects like Special Operationswe’re more than excited to see her shine in new adventures.

Zoe Saldaña is ready to leave the MCU!

In a recent interview with Variety’s in-game Know your lines Zoe Saldanha spilled some intriguing tea. While many Marvel stars are expected to don their capes well into their 90s, it looks like Saldaña might be ready to leave Gamora behind.

She recently made it clear that after 2023 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3she doesn’t see herself returning to the Marvel Universe. While she is immensely proud to have been part of such a brilliant creative team, she admits that she has some regrets and wishes she had put more effort into her role as Gamora. However, she now feels it’s time to pass the baton, allowing someone else to take the character to new heights. In a Variety cover story, she said:

Let a dark girl play Gamora. Give that opportunity to a woman of color and see what the new Gamora brings to the table. It’s like I brought Nyota Uhuru to the table with Nichelle Nichols’ blessing.

Overall, Zoe Saldana’s journey as Gamora seems complete, so introducing a new face for the character is definitely a great idea. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the MCU handles Gamora’s potential recast!
