The road closures on Saturday were caused by a downed tree and utility pole.

UPDATE:

At about 11:55 a.m., Hatfield Township Police added a second road closure alert to the public. East Vine Street is currently closed between South Main Street and Maple Avenue.

The second closure is also due to a downed tree and power lines in the roadway. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible. Police said drivers are not allowed to drive around the barricades in place.

The closure is expected to last several hours.

ORIGINAL POST:

The Hatfield County Police Department issued a warning to local drivers Saturday morning.

Around 11:28 a.m., police notified the public via the Crime Watch page here that Derstine Road was currently closed between Cowpat Road and Burgee Road. The closure was caused by a downed tree and utility pole, which exposed wires to the roadway.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and obey the fire police who are currently on the scene directing traffic. The roadway will remain closed for the next several hours as crews work to resolve the issues.

Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
