The type of sleep that helps you wake up feeling rejuvenated is called slow-wave sleep or deep sleep. Both our body and our mind benefit from getting enough sleep. Its deficiency can lead to a number of problems, including difficulty concentrating, decreased immunity and irritability. Brian Johnson, a 47-year-old software millionaire who is spending millions of dollars to reverse his age, recently revealed his sleep routine, which ensures he gets “deep sleep.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the tech millionaire shared six ways to get deep sleep and how not getting enough sleep can be detrimental to someone’s health.

For those who don’t know, deep sleep occurs during the last phase of non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Most dreams occur during REM sleep. This is when your breathing becomes slowest while you sleep.

Based on the image provided by Brian Johnson on X, he appears to be falling deeply asleep during the first phase of his sleep cycle. “Deep sleep is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your health and well-being. Missing this is very bad. Here’s how you can get it,” he wrote.

According to the tech millionaire, “Most deep sleep occurs early in your sleep cycle.”

Explaining the benefits of deep sleep, Brian Johnson states that “it is essential for physical recovery, muscle recovery, immune function and brain detoxification.”

In a series of tweets, the 47-year-old software millionaire also explained his sleep patterns. “From my data above, you can see that all of my deep sleep occurred in the first third of the night. Sometimes I sleep a little more deeply in the early morning, but it’s always strongest at the beginning of the night,” he wrote.

In addition, he described how to achieve deep sleep:

Brian Johnson says your last meal of the day should be taken at least two hours before bed to help you “get deep sleep.” Try to get back to eight hours before bed, even if it’s just to check. Also, try different meal times. to determine when you will feel better.

A 30-60 minute recuperation program is also helpful. He recommended reading a book, doing breathing exercises, meditation, or going for a walk.

He went on to say that it helps to “figure out your bedtime and then stay in bed +/- 30 minutes every day.”

Brian Johnson also argued: “Turn off the screens. Bottom lights of the house. Avoid the blues. use yellow and red light.”

The software millionaire’s fifth tip was to abstain from stimulants such as caffeine at least 12 hours before bed.

Finally, he urged internet users to aim for 1-2 hours of sound sleep every night.
