Delta Force caught using Battlefield 2042 artwork for marketing purposes; The developers apologize and are investigating the incident

If you’ve seen Delta Force, the free-to-play large-scale first-person shooter from Team Jade, chances are you’ve noticed how similar the game’s color palette and even art style is to DICE’s Battlefield 2042.

While copying a game’s visual theme is nothing new in the video game industry, using artwork and/or screenshots of another game to promote your game isn’t exactly something we see every day. That appears to be the case with Delta Force’s latest marketing efforts to promote the mobile version. Unfortunately, someone from Team Jade used the artwork from Battlefield 2042 and simply cut off the watermark. This was spotted by Battlefield fan Dedzigs and you can see a comparison shot below.

Delta Force crops the image and uses it in marketing

The development team issued an apology, which was published on the Chinese website Delta Force.

During today’s mobile update, we discovered that an incorrectly used image of other product content appeared in the update popup.
After testing, it was found that due to improper use and configuration of the placeholder image, the resource failed to load or a mismatched image popped up in a weak network condition. We are deeply aware of the mistake in using other product materials at this time and would like to express our sincere apologies to the copyright holders of the materials and all operators.

In response to the incident, Team Jade stated that they were not only removing the relevant material, but also launching an “in-depth investigation” into the matter. The studio listed the following steps they are taking to properly handle this incident:

• Please remove the relevant content immediately: After discovering the issue, we quickly fixed the setup issue and removed the incorrectly used content images.
• Serious investigation and strict treatment: The team will conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and strictly deal with the relevant persons in charge in accordance with the rules.
• Increase copyright awareness and improve the review process: We will continue to strengthen copyright awareness training and improve the review process to ensure that similar issues do not occur again.

The visual similarities between Battlefield 2042 and Delta Force are quite noticeable, and we posed this question to the studio when we had the chance to ask them questions, although the studio refrained from answering. Visual similarities aside, Delta Force is its own game, and based on what we’ve played of it so far, Team Jade is on the right track.

The Delta Force open beta will take place on December 5th on PC, with the console versions still missing in action (missing in action).
