Cleveland Cavaliers acquire star forward as part of massive trade proposal

The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t make any trades this offseason, and it looks like their decision to stay the same is paying dividends.

After all, the Cavaliers are 16-1 with their only loss coming to the Boston Celtics, and there’s certainly no shame in that.

That being said, there is always room for improvement, and Cleveland could very well decide to make some moves before the February trade deadline.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley is ahead of the curve on this one, as he’s already come up with a potential blockbuster for the Cavaliers.

In Buckley’s trade proposal, he suggests the Cavaliers send Caris LeVert, Georges Niang and a pair of second-round picks to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Jerami Grant.

“The Cavaliers are off to a great start, but it’s still fair to wonder if they have enough two-way wings to get out of the East,” Buckley wrote. “If they see the position as a potential problem, they may also consider the Grant as a possible solution.”

Cleveland is definitely missing a bigger two-way forward who can play on both ends of the floor. In fact, many were in favor of the Cavs acquiring him over the summer.

Grant isn’t off to the best start this season, averaging 16.7 points per game on a measly 38.1/34.7/81.3 shooting percentage. However, he is one year away from scoring 21 points on a night while shooting 45.1 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from 3-point range.

The problem is that the 30-year-old football player has a contract until 2028 (the last year is at the player’s choice) with a rather expensive salary.

Whether the Cavaliers will be willing to take on all that extra money is anyone’s guess.
