The Precinct is an ’80s police sandbox where you play as a cop killing bad guys, and its release was delayed until 2025 to ensure that developer Fallen Tree Games could make it “the game we think you are deserve it.”

The developers reported this Steam. They explain that “we’re a core team of just 5 people, so we don’t have the same resources as the big triple-A studios that make similar sandbox style games.”

Despite the small size of the team, The site has already impressed many people. Its demo came in second place in the Upcoming Trends tab of Steam Next Fest during a week where we lost all our time with the huge selection of interesting trials on offer.

To ensure that fans of the demo aren’t disappointed by the full version, “We’re currently working tirelessly to polish the final game and fix bugs so we can aim for a 2024 release,” the developers say. . Unfortunately: “Even with all five of us working as hard and fast as we can, we don’t believe we’ll be able to deliver the game we want by the end of this year. In short, the game we could have released this year is not the game we think you deserve.”

And so they made the difficult but probably smart decision to delay the game’s release until 2025. There is no exact release date yet, but “we will let you know as soon as we confirm a new date,” they assure. us.

As an open world crime game, it’s often compared to GTA, but it’s actually the complete opposite as you play as cops rather than robbers, and now it’s coming out in the same year as the highly anticipated GTA. 6.

While I fully understand the comparisons to The Precinct’s crime theme, I think it looks different enough to stand out from GTA. I love the grungy aesthetic of Averno City – where being a police officer doesn’t look glamorous, it’s dangerous and dirty. It also has a not-quite-isometric POV, with a third-person perspective keeping a distance from the main character so you can see rooftops while patrolling the dark alleys of the city.

While you’re here you should check out the others upcoming indie games.
