Oda scored 27 points as Maple Grove beat Eden Prairie in season opener

Maple Grove beat Eden Prairie 77-73 in the season opener behind 27 Michigan State starter Jordan Ode.

Aude got the Crimson off to a fast start, scoring 11 of the team’s first 17 points as Maple Grove jumped out to a 17-6 lead.

Eden Prairie’s Tori Schlagel, a South Dakota commit, led the Eagles’ comeback, providing a spark on offense.

Schlagel led all scorers at halftime with 18 points, followed closely by Oda with 17 points for a 43-39 Maple Grove lead.

The second half was constantly changing, and Schlagel held the Eagles until late. Schlagel hit a three to cut Maple Grove’s lead in half, 73-70, with 1:25 left.

After two free throws, Oda gave the Crimson some breathing room. Schlagel answered with three more, this time the old-fashioned way, with a one-and-one.

The two D1 commits went head-to-head all night, but the Crimson came out on top with 27 points from Oda and 15 from Lexi Hannah. Shagel scored 28 points and Rae Erman had 20 points.
