William in the news: preparing for Vegas, testing in Abu Dhabi and restoring power supply by 2025

The end of the season is in sight as Williams heads to the States for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

There are only three Grands Prix left in 2024 as we prepare for three consecutive race weekends to conclude the campaign.

Ahead of Saturday’s showdown in Sin City, here’s a roundup of all the Williams Racing news in the media over the past few days.

Ready for Vegas

Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto endured a difficult weekend in Sao Paulo, but the duo are raring to bounce back in Round 22, SB Nation reports.

Speaking before the last Vegas Grand Prix, Alex said:

“We have an incredible opportunity to return to Vegas and recover from one of the toughest weekends we have ever experienced at Williams during my tenure here.

“We can show the world and our rivals how strong we are as a team and what we are capable of, not only in the next three races but in the future.

“I am more motivated and driven than ever; “I want to give credit to this team and express my gratitude for all their hard work fighting for points in Vegas.”

Franco was also optimistic about the team’s prospects in the final few weeks of the campaign, stating:

“Now is the time to show our resilience and bounce back together during the final three races of the season.

“Everyone at the factory has put in a huge effort, trying their best to ensure we are in the strongest possible position to get through to the end of the season.”

As Alex and Franco mentioned, restoring Williams’ two FW46s was a mammoth task, and Top Gear presented our video of the work to get the cars ready for Vegas.

Sainz moves to Abu Dhabi

Carlos Sainz will join the team in 2025, but fans will be able to see him in Williams colors for the first time when he takes part in post-season testing in Abu Dhabi.

Formula1.com has been covering Sainz’s impending arrival and there has also been great interest in the relationship he will form with Alex next season.
Albono addressed the issue on Pirelli’s Box, Box, Box podcast, as reported by Motorsport.com:

“I think people can take it (Sainz’s arrival) in two ways. They may feel threatened or see a challenge. I definitely enjoy the challenge,” he said, before adding:

“This is perfect for me! You know, come on. I love it. I show people what I can do. So it’s okay. It’s good for me.”

Carlos is also looking forward to working with Williams, as reported by Autosport:

“Williams is the one who invested in me, supported me from the very beginning, came to me a whole year ago and was very encouraging.

“I told myself, ‘I want to give these guys what they gave me. I want to give them back the trust they have in me.”

“I can’t wait to go there and build something good with them.”

Duracell deal attracts attention

Williams Racing was pleased to this week agree to a multi-year extension of our global partnership with Duracell.

As part of the agreement, the Duracell airbox will continue to be used on the team’s cars, and Williams commercial director James Bauer expressed his pleasure in continuing our relationship with the battery manufacturer:

“Williams is proud to have Duracell support our return in 2025 and beyond as we continue to build long-term relationships with industry-leading brands that share our vision and values,” he said.

“The partnership has delivered unforgettable moments and iconic branding that has become a fan favorite on our cars, and we look forward to the next chapter as we continue to build momentum.”
