The BBC has offered Gavin and Stacey enthusiasts a look at what they can expect from the final episode. The final episode was confirmed earlier this year when James Corden shared the exciting news with fans on social media.

The upcoming Christmas special is expected to see the return of much of the original cast, including Matthew Horne (Gavin Shipman), Joanna Page (Stacey Shipman), Alison Steadman (Pam Shipman), Larry Lamb (Mick Shipman) and Rob Brydon (Bryn West) ). ).

As the finale approaches, the BBC has hinted at the storyline for the new episode. “It’s been five years since we left Nessa on one knee, declaring our love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened since then,” reads the synopsis for the upcoming episode.

Further: “In Barry, Bryn collects Picasso in preparation for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their seventeen-year marriage, and Gwen is acting strange. Nessa has started a new business venture, and Neal the Kid is about to begin training with his father.”

“Back in Billericay, Pam is nervous about the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by newly retired Mick practicing golf in the living room, and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship.”

There are also rumors about Sheridan Smith’s appearance. She hasn’t played Rudy Smith on the show since 2009.

The upcoming episode will be a direct follow-up to the 2019 Christmas special, which attracted over 17 million viewers during its first broadcast, making it the most-watched television episode in over a decade.

Previously, the show left viewers on edge as Nessa and Smithy’s relationship was left uncertain following the birth of their son ‘Baby Neil’, with Nessa declaring her love for Smithy and proposing to him.

Gavin and Stacey first aired on BBC Three from 2007 to 2010, spanning three seasons. It quickly became a cult classic and was subsequently transferred to BBC One.

Since its inception, the show has been a hit with audiences, winning two Bafta Television Awards and one National Television Award.
