Coronation Street fans believe they have already found out who will adopt Lauren Bolton’s baby, Frankie. Young Lauren (played by Kate Fitton) gave birth in August after a harrowing ordeal when her father and corrupt lawyer Joel Dearing (played by Calum Lill) drugged her in an attempt to end both of them.

As viewers will recall, Joel was guilty of grooming and abusing young girls, including Lauren, who ran away for months after he left her for dead. Luckily, Lauren’s child, Frankie, survived and Joel’s horrific crimes were eventually revealed. However, his character was killed off in September, sparking a massive murder mystery in the ITV soap.

Several Weatherfield locals have become suspects, including Joel’s ex-partner Dee Dee (Shanik Sterling-Brown) and Carla Connor (Alison King). But in a recent episode, it was revealed that it was Lauren who dealt the fatal finishing blow while trying to stop Joel from strangling Max (Paddy Turner).

Max and Lauren covered up their actions and threw Joel’s body over a bridge into the river, staging it as a suicide, Plymouth Live reports. However, in turn, Max turned himself in to ensure that Lauren and baby Frankie would never be separated, falsely confessing to the police that he was the one who killed Joel in self-defense.

In Wednesday’s (November 20) latest heartbreaking episode, Lauren faces arrest after David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) gives police a letter written by Max Lauren outlining their plan. The subsequent scenes were emotionally charged as Lauren begged officers not to separate her from her baby son Frankie before she was escorted to the station.

Once in the interrogation room, Lauren continued to lie until a sudden confession shattered the façade; she admitted to delivering the fatal blow. Duty officer Keith (Jacob Roberts) then informed Lauren of a likely murder charge, leaving her devastated at the thought of losing her son forever.

As the storyline took this turn, Corrie fans began to worry that Lauren’s confession could mark her departure from the show, fearing she would be jailed for Joel’s murder. On social media platform X, one person suggested: “I think Kate Fitton may leave Corrie and Lauren will go to jail for Joel’s murder.”

A second fan lamented: “Kate Fitton is such a great actress and I’d hate to see her go.” Another suggested: “If she is punished for murder, she will leave.” In addition to the debate, viewers have theories about who will take care of baby Frankie if Lauren is sent to prison.

Speculation about Frankie’s future has been brewing on Corrie’s Facebook fan page, with one fan wondering: “Is Frankie being adopted?” Fans were quick to weigh in with their speculations, with many pointing to Shauna (Julia Goulding) and David Platt as potential adopters. One wrote: “Shauna is having him, she wants a baby.” Another commented: “I think Shauna and David will end up with Frankie.” Although another agreed: “I think Shauna will get it.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
