“Sometimes you need that time”

The “Today” co-host is mom to daughters Hope, 5, and Hailey, 7, whom she shares with ex Joel Schiffman.

Hoda Kotb has discovered another new benefit of owning a minivan.

On Wednesday, November 20, in the issue Today with Hoda and JennaThe mother of two was delighted with her new minivan, which she bought after moving to the New York City suburbs. “Did I tell you I love my minivan? I really like him,” Kotb tells co-host Jenna Bush Hager, 42.

“Have you already (gone) there to hide from your children?” asks Bush Hager.

Admitting that she did, Kotb explains that the day before she “left my own house. I was sitting outside and didn’t go in… But I was in the car. So I searched and waited.”

She adds that it can sometimes be difficult to manage her two daughters—Hope, 5, and Hayley, 7—at home because “the minute I come in, I can’t do anything. I was doing my thing and then I came in later.”

Bush Hager, mom to daughters Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5, notes that sometimes it’s nice to sit in the car for a while to be alone.

“You’ll find yourself sitting in the car, listening to music and just spending time alone,” she tells Kotb. “And wait, you’re like, ‘Okay, maybe one more song.’

“Sometimes you need that time,” agrees Kotb. “You are performing a reset. And then you are ready.”

Earlier this month, Kotb happily broke the news that she had purchased a minivan for her family of three. “Guys, I’m taking a minivan! Toyota Sienna! she welcomed the release on November 14 Today with Hoda and Jenna. “I’m so excited. I’ve wanted a Toyota Sienna for a long time.”

Kotb then cheerfully imitated the movement of the automatic sliding doors on her new car, saying, “You push the buttons, click! And the doors whistle.”

“And let me explain, a minivan is like a dream come true for me,” she continued. “I wanted it, but I didn’t have it. Besides, I sometimes give my mom a ride. I can only take three children with me because there is no other room. No more! I can’t wait for it.”
